FOUNDER

Annette Benedetti
Editor in Chief

Annette Benedetti has over 10 years experience working with children and their families. After earning her B.S. in Psychology in 1997, she began working as a counselor for children with special needs. Later in her career, she applied the knowledge and skills she had gained as a counselor to teaching preschoolers.

In August 2007 Annette and her husband James opened The Village Preschool in Bend. As the mother of two young daughters, Annette noticed a lack of quality preschool programs in Central Oregon, so she decided to open one herself. The Village Preschool serves children ages 2-6, including her two daughters Rain and Phoenix.

Annette also noticed the need for a quality family magazine in Central Oregon. This time Annette applied her background in writing and journalism to create the magazine you see before you. It’s Annette’s vision and dedication to journalistic standards that brought this publication into being.

As you may have guessed, Annette rarely sits down. Amongst her many other pursuits, Annette has been studying yoga for over 5 years and has become a serious student of Iyengar yoga in the last year and a half. When she is not chasing her two wonderful daughters around you can almost always find her on her mat.

Sethi Jacobson
Director of Marketing

Sethi Jacobson grew up in the small town of Truckee, California. After receiving her teaching credential from Saint Mary's College in Moraga, Ca. she taught elementary school in various cities throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. In 2005 Sethi and her husband (also an elementary school teacher) decided to move to Bend with their 1 year old daughter. Not long after the move, their son was born and Sethi spent 5 years as a stay at home mom. During this time she became inspired to start her own business creating educational craft kits for kids.

Passionate about the Bend family community and highly skilled in marketing and sales, Sethi now offers True North her experience as a mom, educator, and entrepreneur.

Jane Johnson
Art Director

Jane Johnson brings five years of experience and education in graphic design and photography to True North Parenting. After receiving her bachelor's degree in photography from Oregon State University, she moved to Bend with her husband in 2004 to help start a non-denominational, Bible teaching church with a handful of friends. Since then, she has diligently built her graphic design and photography business, with a short stint at a make-up counter thrown in the mix.

Besides managing the contributing photographers and designing the magazine, Jane is owner of Ethni Photography, and has recently launched the Ethni Paper Shoppe to house her custom designed, unique paper goods for all your important announcements.
