Guestroom Makeover Contest: A True North Facebook Fan Wins Big! by True North Staff 
On October 15th, True North and Buttercup Home Styling launched a "Win a Guestroom Makeover for the Holidays" contest on the True North Facebook page. Our fans
submitted photos of their guestrooms along with a short description of why they needed the makeover the most. Eight days later, TN Facebook fan Chrissy Christopherson won the contest and the Buttercup Home Styling team swung into action and got the makeover under way. With help and donations from several local businesses (see sidebar for more information) the Christopherson's guestroom was transformed in under a week. Here is how it was done: 
After assessing the winner's guest room, cozying it up became the number one goal.
First, the color of the walls was too faint for the styling of the home so a rich color was applied adding depth, warmth, and sophistication. Next, the bed was positioned to be the focal point of the room, the first thing guests would see upon entering. A lighter version of the wall paint was applied to the headboard to coordinate it with the room's color scheme and reduce the juvenile feel of the light pine finish. The location of the bed allowed it to be framed by a window that was softened with sheer drapes. To add a punch of color, bedding with a red background was selected. This became the inspiration for the room. Accents with wood tones, such as shelving, a mirror, and curtain rod, were added to coordinate with the depth of wall color and bedding. Lightness was then added to the space with sheer curtains on the second window, as well as sheets in a rich cream color. Small furniture side pieces were brought in, as the scale of the existing pieces was not ideal for bedside tables. Finally, additional lighting and accessories were added to complete the space and theme.
